Florida CNA state exam prompted and unprompted CNA skills

The Florida CNA state exam is based on 22 clinical skills. A clinical skills test consists of five scored skills. All candidates taking this test are scored in 3 prompted clinical skills and 2 unprompted skills: Handwashing and Indirect Care.

Candidates are not given instructions about when to wash hands. Candidates are evaluated in how well they wash their hands during the first skill. Handwashing is one of the five skills scored in every clinical skills test.

Indirect Care is also evaluated during the performance of every skill (3 prompted) during the clinical skills test. Indirect care includes standard precautions-infection control, resident’s rights and safety, comfort/needs, communication and more.

Preparing for the state exam is vital to pass the exam on the first try.
